WERA-103 Leadership Award Presented at 2025 Western Nutrient Management Conference
The WERA-103 Leadership Award is presented to someone who exhibits extraordinary leadership toward improving soil and nutrient management in the western United States. Please join us in congratulating the 2025 Western Nutrient Management Conference Leadership Award winner, Dr. Alan Blaylock.
We would like to especially recognize Dr. Blaylock’s contributions to WERA-103 and the Western Nutrient Management Conference over the past several years as it was restructured. His knowledge and leadership during this challenging time were critical in ensuring our continued success
Dr. Blaylock is senior agronomist at Nutrien Inc. He earned a Ph.D. in Soil Fertility from Iowa State University and BS and MS degrees from Brigham Young University. He joined Nutrien (formerly Agrium) in 1996 after serving as Extension Soils Specialist at the University of Wyoming. Dr. Blaylock has served on numerous regional and national committees, as well as in the American Society of Agronomy and the Soil Science Society of America.
Dr. Blaylock previously received the 2022 Fluid Fertilizer Foundation Werner Nelson Award, the 2022 Great Plains Soil Fertility Conference Leadership Award, the 2018 SSSA Soil Science Industry and Professional Leadership Award, and the 2010 ASA Agronomic Industry Award.
He also represents Nutrien and The Sulphur Institute as chair of The Sulphur Institute’s Agronomy Steering Committee, promoting TSI’s message of “Sulphur – The Fourth Major Nutrient.”
