Alan Blaylock, Ph.D
Based in Colorado, Dr. Alan Blaylock serves as Senior Agronomist at Nutrien, bringing more than 30 years of university and industry experience in soil fertility, nutrient management, and 4R Nutrient Stewardship. Internationally recognized for his work in fertilizer best management practices and enhanced-efficiency fertilizers, Dr. Blaylock provides agronomic leadership that bridges scientific principles with practical, on-farm solutions. Before joining Nutrien, Dr. Blaylock served as a university extension soil fertility specialist and managed both domestic and global research and education programs. His background spans academia, applied agronomy, and field research—experience that enables him to translate complex nutrient science into actionable guidance for growers worldwide.
Dr. Blaylock holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Agronomy and Horticulture from Brigham Young University and a Ph.D. in Soil Science from Iowa State University. Raised on an irrigated farm in eastern Oregon, he has spent his life in agriculture and remains deeply committed to improving nutrient performance and cropping system sustainability.
Dr. Blaylock’s contributions have been recognized with several industry honors, including the 2023 Werner Nelson Award, 2022 Great Plains Soil Fertility Conference Leadership Award, 2018 Soil Science Industry and Professional Leadership Award, and the 2010 Agronomic Industry Award.
